Apparently, this album will only be available via the Internet, but don’t let that stop you from buying it! Having dropped the band format of his last album – the totally brilliant ‘Let’s Go Do What Happens’ – Francis has mellowed a bit more and gone semi-acoustic, if that’s the correct term for it.
The 12 songs on the album are, of course, beautifully melodic, finely crafted and lyrically clever. Highlights are ‘Yonder Mountain’ and the last track ‘Close My Door’. There is the odd bit of electric guitar playing, but mostly it is just acoustic guitar, bass, some keyboards and percussion.
In summary, it’s another excellent album from one of the worlds finest (and criminally ignored song-writing talents) that may disappoint those expecting another ‘Lets Go Do What Happens’. However, the quality of the songs and the performances make up for it.
